Christmas Lunch

Christmas Lunchxmas shot 2011 was held on Friday 2nd Dec and was a great success and over €1400 was raised in the Raffle for Focus Ireland, well done to all and thank you .

Some background
The Past Pupils Annual Christmas Lunch is held either in late November or early December. The lunch is typically held in central Dublin hotel. The lunch is a relatively new addition to the calendar of events for past pupils. The event has proven very popular with past pupils and is a very friendly and enjoyable occasion the run up to Christmas.
The lunch, similar to all Past Pupils events is pre booked by availing of the automated booking system on this web site. Details of the lunch (cost , location , dress code ,times etc) are all set out on this web site and are typically available at least six weeks before the dinner takes place. All tickets must be paid prior to the lunch and no money can be accepted on the day of the lunch.

Who attends the lunch?
The lunch is open to all past pupils of Terenure College no matter what year you have left the College. The lunch also affords any past pupil attending the opportunity to invite a guest whether it is a work colleague, friend, father or even brother. Unlike the Annual Dinner there is no five year cycle of participants so the attendees at the lunch come from all different years and simply come to enjoy an excellent lunch in the company of friends old and new. Also important to acknowledge that if you wish to attend the lunch but cannot persuade any friends to join feel free to attend on your own and you will be made feel very welcome by the Union representatives.

Some years we invite a guest speaker to attend although this doesn’t occur every year we often have a representative from the Carmelites or the school to update us on things happening in the College from education, sport and achievements.
The lunch lasts for approximately two hours and it is not uncommon to adjourn to a nearby hostelry for further refreshments ……..

Why is it important to attend the lunch?
The Past Pupils Union Annual Christmas lunch is a smaller event than the annual dinner and allows past pupils to enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed and informal setting. For those Past Pupils wishing to enjoy a festive celebration in the company of friends the Christmas lunch is an ideal opportunity to start the Christmas season.

’A man may be a pessimistic determinist before lunch and an optimistic believer in the wills freedom after it ‘’
