Dear Fellow past pupils,
Welcome to the ‘Nure website - The web site is the principle communication platform for the Terenure College Past Pupils Union. The website is a key tool to insure you can easily access and understand the ongoing activities of the Union.
It is a great privilege, and one I accept with honour and pride, to be elected as Union President for the coming year. As a member of the PPU committee since 2001, and in the typical team spirit of the ‘Nure, I have had the pleasure of working with a great bunch of guys who have helped to build on past work and drive the Union to where it is today.
Of course, we cannot just mention the lads anymore as we now have on board Catherine Lynch, The Union Secretary, and with the Union office now based in the school since late 2008, it is actually hard to imagine life before Catherine came on board - Catherine can be contacted on 086 3087678 or email tercollppu@eircom.net.
There are many activities and events throughout the coming year (please see Event Calendar) which we will endeavour to make as memorable as possible for all attendees. Through these various events the Union can continue to develop its primary functions; Communication with fellow Past Pupils, Communication with the College and Promotion of the Past Pupils Union Benevolent Fund.
The inaugural “Tour De ‘Nure” Charity Cycle from the Carmelite Friary in Moate to Terenure College takes place in September each year and all proceeds raised will go directly to the chosen charities.
The Unions other events throughout the year will kick off in early December with our Annual Christmas lunch, on Friday 2nd of December 2011 in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
The flagship event of the Union’s year is the Annual Dinner which will be held in the Radisson Hotel, Golden Lane in Dublin 2 on Friday 9th of March 2012. Please keep an eye on the website for booking details in the coming months.
The Unions year rolls into the summer of 2012 with the hugely popular PPU Golf Outing. Details of venue, date and booking details will be up on the website in the coming months.
Finally, as I reflect on 1986, the year I left Terenure College as a pupil, God willing, as President of the Past Pupils Union I look ahead 25 years to 2011 / 2012 where I look forward to meeting as many fellow past pupils and celebrate the great memories that Terenure College has given us all,
Alan Morgan (’86)
President
